Hey everyone!!! I just woke up and am headed down to breakfast with the team, but I wanted to take a second and drop you all a line. Despite the continuous rain and chilly weather everything is easy going thus far. The site where we are playing the matches is actually really nice and has a bunch of seating for the French fans. The entire US team practiced yesterday and we all had a good hit even though we had all gotten in Tuesday night from another long ass flight. Today’s Schedule will be mostly the same as yesterday except for the dinner reception that we have tonight. Take care for now and I will keep you all updated throughout the week. Thanks!!!

Hi Bethanie!!!
Great job at the Australian Open!! I followed your qualifying matches and was sad you fell in the final match…so close! However you did a great job with Yan Zi in doubles and when I saw the draw before matches started I was disappointed you two were in the same quarter as Serena and Venus. I was torn for who to root for as I am a fan of all three of you. But it was nice to see you and Zi push them to a final set!! Are you planning on playing with her for the whole year?
Sincerely,
Dom
P.S. Good luck in Fed Cup against France! I’ll be rooting for you, Melanie, Shenay, and Liezel!!!
That match against Alize was EPIC !
You were overpowering her
Can’t believe that you played so good on clay !
Now, if you could also play like this in single. 2010 will be a good year
Keep it up bethanie !!!
BMS:
I was watching your Fed Cup match against Alize Cornet – absolutely loved your slice-backhand drop shots and your net play! Also, your fighting spirit. I had a chance to watch you and Sania Mirza a couple years ago in Cinci.
Your backhand cross-court & aggressive returns were getting Alize in tough positions allowing you to finish points at the net (which you were doing so effectively). I say, use that combination in your singles going forward. You have a unique combination of singles and doubles skills, which can make you formidable. The up-the-line forehand on short balls could perhaps be closed rather than open-stance – who am I to give advice?
It was a hard fought match and was a well-deserved win for you. Keep it up!

wow you won !!!
Bethanie, I know that I’m not a tennis player, and that I may know nothing in tennis, but I think that Marie Jo gave you a good advice: I know that you like “to go for winners all the time” (and it’s really entertaining, I don’t like pushers) but I think that it’s good when you play “tennis percentage” like against aliz (which means go for winners but not everytime). But then again, what do I know?
Anyway, I’m so happy for you. I think this season will be good! Can’t wait !
Congratulations on your fantastic playing in the Fed cup! Are you going to be playing at the Sony Erickson Tournament in Key Biscayne? We are huge fans of yours……. after seeing you play in the last few US Opens!
Great job in Fed Cup!!! I was a bit nervous about the US team on red clay, in France but all you guys really pulled it out. It was great to see you fight back in each set and come out with a straight set win against such a good clay court player as Cornet. Its great to see the US team is just as strong even without the Williams sisters playing and I wish you guys the best of luck in the SF vs. Russia. Should be tough but you guys have proved to be scrappers. Any idea on what your next WTA tournament will be? Enough blabbing for today.
