March 13, 2008 – Indian Wells, CA – WTA player Bethanie Mattek-Sands, currently ranked in the Top 40 in the World in both singles and doubles launches her first official website, www.bmattek.com today, Friday March 13, 2009.

One of the brightest tennis stars on the WTA Tour at only 23 years old, Bethanie is the future of American tennis and is currently playing the best tennis of her short career. Bethanie is currently ranked #39 in the World and is the # 3 ranked American player just behind Top 5 players Serena and Venus Williams. Bethanie is also one of America’s Top 5 ranked doubles players. She was recently selected to the Fed Cup team representing the United States. In the past two days, she has won her opening round matches in doubles and singles at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA.

Bethanie won her first round singles match last night defeating #57 ranked Tathiana Garbin 6-4, 6-4. In her first round doubles match, she and partner Mashona Washington (USA) defeated #35/#38 ranked Sorana Cirstea and Galina Voskoboeva 6-2, 6-2. Bethanie’s second round matches in both singles and doubles will take place this weekend in Indian Wells. Live match scoring can be found at www.bnpparibasopen.org

Custom designed by Bruce Quiroz of Elemental Studios, the official Bethanie Mattek website is unique and interactive including features such as a flash introduction, ongoing “Bethanie’s Blog,” and tour and match updates. The website also includes various pages full of information, pictures, and video from Bethanie’s past and current matches.

"I am so excited to be launching my first official website,” said Mattek. “This couldn’t be a better time in my life right now. Indian Wells is my first tournament back after an injury and I feel like I am playing better than ever…I recently got married and am so happy… and I am launching my first official website."

Mattek began playing tennis at age 5 having trained at the world famous Evert Academy and played her first pro event at age 14 (in 1999.) Over the course of Bethanie’s career, she has amassed an impressive cumulative earning of almost One million dollars. She ran her record for 2008 to 26-6 with the most notable, an amazing run at Wimbledon where she reached the Fourth round losing a close match to Serena Williams. Along the way to the Fourth round at Wimbledon, she upset the #10 ranked player in the world, 2007 Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli.

Throughout her career, Mattek has accumulated four (4) Sony Ericcson WTA Tour Doubles Titles; five (5) ITF Women’s Circuit Singles Titles; and three (3) ITF Women’s Circuit Doubles Titles.

Mattek’s outgoing, fun and carefree personality has won her fans worldwide both on and off the court. She also is known for an adventurous sense of fashion having had many stories published on her court attire and the unique personality she has brought to the game of tennis.

Mattek is represented by CMPR which is run by Steve Webster. Webster is married to UCLA Women’s Tennis Head Coach Stella Sampras and also represents Stella’s brother, tennis legend Pete Sampras.

Mattek was born March 23, 1985 in Rochester, Minnesota and currently trains and resides in Phoenix, Arizona. She recently married former athlete and Phoenix businessman Justin Sands. The two were married in November 2008.
